Cambelt chain and tensioner
« on: February 02, 2013, 08:58:53 am »
Hi I've just brought a 2005 golf gti and I think the car would benefit from having a new Cambelt chain and tensioner as it get quite noisy when warm but not when it's cold. The engine code is AXX and from searching this is common on this engine.
I have just had the Cambelt and waterpump replaced but I don't think the chain and tensioner is included in the Cambelt change.
what I'm looking for is to be directed to where I can get the correct parts for a good price

thanks

TPS is probably the best bet for the kit.

As for replacing them though, if you loosen off the cambelt then they shouldnt really be re-used strictly speaking and you'd need to loosen it off to replace the tensioner etc.

Why werent they done with the cambelt?

Chain and tensioner is never done at a belt change.  Fully separate items at the other end of the engine.

Get it to a specialist who can take a look over it for another opinion.

I can supply these parts or supply and fit, but worth getting it listened to first as it could be something else or nothing to worry about.

Where abouts are you to? Also how much would it be to supply and fit?
