Road Debris Broke my Car.
« on: February 06, 2013, 12:53:53 am »
Gutted.  :sad1:

Went out this morning, driving around 20mph down the street, when all of a sudden I heard an almighty noise at the rear NS wheel.

At first I thought I was a brick that had flung up into the arch.

I got out and went round the back to see that my lower bumper was smashed and the arch liner was poking out a little.  :surprised:

On closer inspection I could see what looked like a thick grey bungee cord wrapped around my tyre.

I tried to pull it off from around the tyre and thats when I realised it was an 10mm Iron bar about 600mm long. The end of the bar was bent over a bit like a tent peg, and there was around 20mm of this end stuck into the centre of the tyre.

After some real hard work pulling at the bar to unwrap it and then get it out of the tyre it finally came free.

Gonna need a new Bumper, (sorted) a new Arch Liner (if anyone has the part number I'd appreciate it) and more than likely a new tyre.  :sad1:

Still that iron bar could have done a lot more damage really, so I'm thankful for that.

It was more than likely some Pikey Scrap men with an over flowing van.  :fighting:

….Just when I have sold a few car parts to pay for some Mods - This Happens  :jumping:  Sods Laws I suppose.

Thanks Guys

I've got a rear bumper sorted out for sometime in March  :happy2:

Thanks for the Part No.s Freddy!!! Ill get one ordered today

I'm gutted about my tyre though. They ain't cheap and this one has 6-7mm on. Still fingers crossed it might be ok when I get it inspected.

What are all your thoughts on buying a nearly new Part-worn? Obviously I wouldn't buy one thats been repaired.

I've sent these guys a message, but the ad is quite old. Any Forum members near Willenhall?  :innocent:

That really does suck.  Seen things like that go straight through alloys too.

Is it mild or stainless bar?  I need some 10mm stainless bar

Haha!!!  it was mega strong stuff but I'm pretty sure it's mild steel.
