out with the old, in with the new : )
« on: February 04, 2013, 09:10:56 am »
Right, as most of you may be aware i had a fueling problem which led to my cam follower failing and subsequently knackering my cam in the process. Upon stripping the car down anf after speaking to a few people i decided it really wasn't worth replacing  the damaged parts for new as the hpfp had lost its collets and spring retainer and about 8mm of the actual hpfp had been eaten by the cam.

So.... where did this leave me. The only other option was to replace the whole lump with a nice fresh one. I did consider just replacing it with another bwa, but with the power i am running i thought i may as well bite the bullet and just get a k04 lump.

Whilst i was pondering this , i recieved a call from steve at statllers telling me he had a tts lump coming up for sale and aling with fitting it was an offer i couldn't really refuse.

So without further ado the car was booked in and work has commenced on stripping the old motor and transfering my hardware onto the new motor. It will still be running the hybrid turbo and w/m and hopefully we can run the blower now at a higher level than it was before..

Just a few pics of whats going on up to now and a refresher of what happened

Also got a nice fresh loba clutch and flywheel going in and also had the car fully polybushed but the day i picked it up it packed in. Should be like a new car once back

it was on the list of to do's james but as you can imagine this lot is costing me enough. As said spent £700 on polybushing and a few other bits just before this happened so funds are s little tight at the moment.  :sad1:

Right, nipped down to statllers today to see how the progress on my new engine was going. They have fully stripped the old one and rebuilt the new one

. I am so glad things have turned out this way to be fair as steve was telling me that alot of the stuff in the old bwa lump was past its sell by date having covered 89k. Nothing major, just silly little things like breather hoses that have peished over time etc. A new timing belt has been fitted in there for good measure too. Just waithing on the new loba clutch and flywheel to turn up now from Germany and all can be refitted.

So all in all happy with how things are at the moment. Well done so far statller boys.  :happy2:
