NI - MOT in 15 minutes - true! You have to go to an MOT test centre though...I think on the mainland you can now get an MOT at Tesco's?

Rep Of Ireland the NCT (National Car Test) is every 2 years until a car is 10yo, then it's every year. Perfectly sensible.

.
For peace of mind I would prefer to have my ride MOT's every 12 months rather than every 2 years. I would rather have the safety net so that any roadworthiness issues get picked up earlier rather than later when more deterioration or damage has potentially occurred.

EDIT: Especially as my car has now done 105,000 miles and will be 8 years old in July.

....Agreed! And that would be a worry if the MOT was extended to every 2 years instead of 1.

....And if you are a member of this forum you are encouraged to modify and replace bits even when they worked perfectly well in the first place!

The number of cars I've seen this winter with front bulbs out...one lady overtook me very slowly and had NO headlights or sidelights functioning, relying solely on her two (perfectly functioning) front fogs.
