DV valve advise

Hi

I have a 2005 GTI thats stock and my think my DV valve may be leaking. What would be the signs and what would be the best one to fit?

Just had this with my '05. It felt low on power. I could feel that the power wasn't there when I tried to accelerate. Like the turbo was hardly kicking in. There was also a whistle when accelerating. The revision G is the one to go for, part no: 06F 145 710 G.

Had this on mine when I bought it and had no clue as I'd come from a Peugeot 307 so power felt great  :signLOL:

Only thing I noticed, looking back after it was fixed, was the power would drop off quite quickly and didn't hold boost as obviously the diaphragm was split

Once changed it pulled strong and held boost like it should

The diaphragm on a G seals better than the piston on the D

BUT...

because of differences in the location of DV in relation to the turbo between K03 and K04 engined cars, a diaphragm DV is prone to heat drying out the rubber and cracking on a K03, so this is why the D piston type is better on a K03 car. On a K04 car this problem doesn't exist so a G is therefore better.

So if you consider the DV as a yearly consumable and change every 12/18 months, the G would be the one to go for on a KO3 I take it?

....Which is exactly why VW's OEM DV's failed so commonly in the first place and consequently why I bought a Forge DV from the first batch available way back in 2007(?). Failures weren't just on remapped cars with extra boost to handle either.

was changing my Revision D diverter for G today when i saw oil on the sensor connection that plugs into the DV. on removing it there was oil inside, not a massive amount but a bit. is that normal? cant remember there being any when i changed from the B to D

also i am going to have to get 3 new bolts from VW as one of the bolts heads was smoothing out from a hexagon shape to a circle  :sad1: so have to wait till tomorrow to get it back on.

It's taken nearly 8 years for my original diaphragm DV to fail, so I'm not too worried about the fact I've replaced mine with a rev G. Doubt that I would be keeping the car another 8 years!

Hi Guys

When i drive the gti hard the power doesn't always seem to be there. Sometimes it feels like a rocket other times very slow to react. I only have 49k on the clock and FSH with agents as well as all the extra maintenance i do.

I stripped mine down at work yesterday to check it and yeah sure enough its torn. Rev B

Running a 2005 with BCS system, what would people recommend D or G???
