Considering selling.... Advice on pricing etc...
« on: February 11, 2013, 10:59:07 pm »
Hi folks,

I'm having some urges in the shape of porsche of some description at the moment... But they are a bit dependant on what my GTi may or may not be worth.

Trawling eBay and autotrader at the moment to try and get a handle on the current market, but thought I'd ask here too, to see what people think.

Also, if you've recently acquired one... Would be interested to hear what sort of price you paid. (Feel free to PM if you'd rather not go public !)

I'll post a full ad later, but I've basically got a 2006 black 3 door, with just about every option ticked apart from sat nav and dsg.  Full winter pack, learher, xenons, 6cd, mf wheel, 18"monzas... etc.  it's a good one and took me a while to find one with such a high spec. Turns out it was a VW demo so they loaded it up. Bought it on 24k miles and it's currently on 65k miles and last week spent £600+ on new discs and pads.  Full history and all that jazz.  Not scrimped on the maintenance.

So basically, if you've bought something similar lately or are more up to speed with the market (as opposed to the parkers guide) than I am...  I'd be interested to hear your thoughts!

Cheers!

Fairly sure it's got to be worth more than 6-7k tbh.

We buy any car offered me 6.5 and they aren't known for being generous!

Saw a couple on here advertised recently for 9k with similar spec and miles. Don't think it's worth that... But 6-7 sounds more like a trade-in offer than a sale price surely?!!

2006 55 plate, 36k, reflex silver. Luxary pack 1, folding mirrors, puddle lights, fsh, 17"monzas. Bought it from vw in december for just under £9k.
So with the extras but higher mileage on yours id say just under that figure

Yer I'd say about 8.5 k.

They don't seem to be going very quick at the moment!

Good luck if you decide to sell

Thanks guys.

Will do a bit more research in the morning and then do a proper ad to list all the other bits I've replaced.. Like the air con unit and a new caliper etc too. Just remembered I had it serviced in dec on the long life one too... So it shouldn't need anything spent on it for a bit.  Probably not going to be looking for top whack tbh.  Doing a 70 mile round trip on a motorway each day is kind on the car... but the miles fair jump up quick!! No mad rush but if 8k-ish is possible... Operation buyaporsche could be on!!!

I've been looking on Autotrader recently and the prices seem to be all over the shop, 05's with decent miles still asking for £8k at the same time you can pick up a 57 for that too. Seems that 05-57 are pretty similar if in good nick with good mileage then a bit of a hike when you hit 08-09 cars. I would think around the £7k mark for yours as a private sale would be about right.

How about a GTI, same year with almost double the milage?  107k '55 plate?  What's that worth... FVWSH, Xenons, 18's, 3 door black...
£4-5k?

always price your car higher than you think its worth with a very detailed add, Worst that can happen is you can get knocked down. May aswell try get more money first then just reduce the price gaugeing on amount of interest
