People with the 2.0 140ps deisel
« on: February 11, 2013, 06:18:26 pm »
Have you got more power? For examaple a remap?

Or have you done more like exhaust, intercooler etc?

I have a caddy 2.0 140 on order and want to find out what people are doing with them, Is the S3 intercooler something to consider?

a remap is the easiest way to go but then you will find the brakes need upgrading. The exhaust  will make it rev better if you decay it.The standard intetcooler is fine with just a remap but if you are going down the hybrid turbo route like mine is then its best to change the intetcooler

Started with a remap and went from there.... You also wont need to worry about installing an S3 cooler until after a hybrid.

I have a remap on mine done by Awesome GTI. Perfect for how I want the car. Unsure on what power its putting out after the remap though.
How hard can it be?

The remap gives you the single biggest benefit.  You can start with intercoolers, bigger injectors, hybrid turbos etc but it starts becoming hugely expensive, and puts a lot of strain on the transmission, engine mounts etc.

Ok, I'm sure the map will get done ASAP but I want to get past the 200 mark at least!

I've got a 2.0 140 and I once was thinking the same 200+ but it gets really expensive to crack that and as I've learnt it's really not best to go chasing figures. Get a straight through exhaust and a remap to start it'll put u in the 180+bhps but can increase torque to 450nm! This is immense torque and will fry your clutch quickly if you use it too early. It all depends what you want. If you want the 200bhp then your looking at a hybrid turbo, intercooler, (eventually)updated clutch, custom remap to suit it all oh and bigger brakes so you can stop.

i have done all the above; Its now running 203 on a hybrid  turbo  but on a torque limit on the map to stop clutch slipping.Goes into awesome gti in May to get the clutch and fly wheel done and change the intercooler;then get the map turned up

when you say 'on order' is it a new van? if so, the new 136/140/143 bhp common rail engines will tune to 190bhp and 300 ftlb from a stg1 and with dpf removal stg2 will see 220bhp and 340ftlb.

You dont need the intercooler for over 200, trust me as I'm running over without. Hybrid, map, clutch and exhaust does that.
