I doubt it would make any difference for the better at the pumps mate.

It's not going to turn into a diesel ;)

My stage 1 gti was about 2mpg better on the motoway after a remap. Hardly made much of a difference.  :happy2:

The re-map will give you a little bit better fuel economy but you have to drive it accordingly.

If you have a lead foot you might as well squirt some of the fuel from the pump directly on the ground!
More fun though  :driver:

On a side note; do people regard remapping their GTI as increasing the un-reliability?

I think you mean making it less reliable?? In an upside down way?

It will highlight any weakness in the spark plugs / coils, fuelling system, clutch etc. It won't increase the chance of a break down though. . :happy2:

Re mpg: made no difference to mine. When R-Tech Nick mapped it, he left the light throttle map at lambda 1 so I still got 40+mpg on a run.

Used a lot more fuel when using the power though (foot to floor)

Ps: the mods will be onto you for that signature. It's MASSIVE

There are changes that can be made to give a very SLIGHT increase.  It's certainly nothing like the gain that can be achieved when remapping a diesel.

Economy is about the same but as you'll spend more time "testing" your car on WOT that it will be a lot worse!
