Well, as my car still aint finished i have been forced to use public transport for the 1st time in 19years. I have used the tram to get to a hospital appointment as is more convenient than bus. I came out of my appointment and there was a bus waiting heading to my destination. £1.70 later i was aboard.

 Only endured one stop and had to get off as traffic was horrendous around the town ctr. Jumped back on the tram to be greeted by the least charismatic conductor i ever laid eyes on. If he would have spoke three words his bottom lip would probably fallen on the floor. Miserable fecker. All i can say is this is the first time in 19yrs on public transport and hopefullythe last.

I absolutely detest using public transport for three reasons

Price
I live just over a mile from the centre of town, a return fare on the local bus is about £3.50 which is horrendous. A return fare to Southampton which is the next major city (apart from Eastleigh which can only be classified as a sh*t hole) 10 miles down the road will set you back £7. So if my wife wanted to use public transport to do some shopping in Southampton i would be out of pocket to the tune of over £20!

Working it out, the return journey from Winchester to Southampton factoring in diesel, ware etc cost no more than £8 + parking of £4 means i can do the same trip for nearly half the price using my car.

Convenience
Stood in the cold waiting for a bus that may not turn up or jump into a warm dry car with a radio..............

Know wot u mean by the smell thing. Had a right pair of retards behind me going on about how many stops there were on the entire trip. f*ckin reeked they did

I would happily use public transport IF it was cost effective and more reliable but it just isn't. The bus service from town to my area has been cut to one bus every hour between 7-10pm from every 20 minutes. The only times i only catch the train are if i am heading into London or going to watch Rugby at Twickenham and fancy a couple of beers.

There are advantages though.

1- You can fall asleep.
2- You may read.
3- You could have an overpriced snack.
4- You can get elephants and then get home cheaply.
5- You could have a quick hump in the toilet.

Boats and planes are public transport - have you used these in the last 19 years?

Planes yes but only for foreign travel and getting ripped off is pretty much a given. Recently come back from Mexico, flying was the only option for me

I unfortunately have to endure public transport as my part of my job everyday.

In certain scenarios in London it's cheaper to get a cab than to pay for one off bus journeys with cash.

Public transport is on the whole a bit sh*t.. however the Tube system in London is great and works 98% of the time.

I use the London underground & the Chiltern line for work and both are pretty good (although pay a f*cking fortune for the privilage ).

Can't stand buses. Only use them if I really have no other choice.

Don't do public transport, except for Planes (Where someone else's cold/cough/lurgy gets spread around the plane) or Eurotunnel, I don't do buses or trains and certainly not boats

The only time I get the bus is if one or two of us are heading out to meet for a drink, otherwise a taxi is cheaper if there's more of us (10-14 quid for a 7 mile journey vs. £3.30 each on the bus)
