Let's hear from you boot poppers out there..
« on: February 13, 2013, 07:29:58 pm »
thinking of getting involved on the boot pop GB but was wondering if anyone had anything negative to say after getting it fitted and wished they had not?

Have heard it makes the boot very stiff to close so might be hard if your wife or child was trying to close it with only one hand or is this not a problem in reality?

Andy i don't think a child would close it too be honest. It is fairly stiff

Mine started off great, but as you've probably already read it can be pretty ineffective during the winter months.

One other thing is since fitting the RVC the extra weight is a problem and barely works at all these days.

I have had mine on for over two years so maybe could do with new struts  :happy2:

Great little mod (when its not cold). Remember to add some extra grease to all 4 ball joints as well, every little helps.

As said extra grease on the balls up and it works perfect no matter what weather.

Only gripe I have is that there seems to be a rattle coming from the boot lid when I am driving now. Gets annoying after a while.
How hard can it be?

It's a great Mod matey, no real need to touch your rear badge now... It does take abit of effort to close, but you get the hang of it after a few times.
Yes i would have thought it hard for a kid to close, well depending on the size of kid  :signLOL:

get it on  :happy2:

Some white grease... lithium white grease... I got some from VW the other day, Not to sure of the name... :happy2:

If it's not broke, Mod it.....

Silver is the way !

As above Used some Multi Purpose Lithium Grease bought from ECP a while ago to grease the ball joints. Get it from anywhere.

Personally I think it is a problem. I can tell the extra weight is not helping lift the boot.

I'm going to get new struts, as I said mine are actually nearly three years on

Just park facing uphill and you'll be fine  :signLOL:

Only comment i would have is; don't forget to worn the missus! I didn't and the thing nearly took her head off!   :surprised:

Otherwise, what are you waiting for??? go for it  :happy2:

Here too. Doesn't want to open fully unless I have the windows cracked open a bit to relieve the suction. Ball joints get plumbers grease here. It is resistant to water and heat and stays put.

I just used ordinary multi purpose grease, does the job perfectly.
How hard can it be?
