I am having problems with this mod as well, i have a mk6 camera and i didnt even think about the extra weight issue in comparison to the old mk5 badge,,,, is it really that much heavier ???
When i fitted the pop it was useless but i forgot to add grease, when i done this it did help but i can only get to pop open whilst facing uphill.
Tried on the flat and it very nearly gets there but never quite makes it.
Quite an embarrassing mod if i cant figure out how to get it better,
one thing that is playing on my mind is the stoppers, i followed the guide on the ecs tuning web site on fitment and paid particular interest on fully compressing the stoppers.
On the video it says to use an allen key and turn the stopper anti clockwise until it stops, then push the stopper in before turning clockwise until again it stops - then job done.
My problem is when i turned it anti clockwise it just turned forever and was very loose, also when turning it clockwise it would tighten up but the turning never came to a stop and would turn indefinatelly ??? am i doing something wrong here.
Because of this im thinking the poppers may be faulty and i AM NOT getting the full compression out of them which may be causing the problem with the boot not opening unless facing uphill.
Can anyone else please comment on this problem i had with the allen key turning and have i done something wrong here ?
Im thinking maybe i should just get a new pair of stoppers,,,,, they still appear to be compressing ok but no way of telling if they are at the max setting for max pop.

One other thing, if this problem is common with people having a camera fitted is there a bigger set of stoppers out there that would have a larger compression so to give a more forcefull POP ??? if so maybe this would solve the problem.
Sorry for the long winded explanation but i really would like to be able to fix this

I noticed on an audi Q7 the other evening, it opens and closes it's self.... Well someone must push a button for it to open.

But how does it close???

I wonder how this works?????
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

mine that are fitted are already the D part number, seemingly it is the same part as the old and just a new updated number.

cant find a description on this item, will it fit and is it any stronger than the ones fitted just now, dont know what the NM pressure is for the ones fitted just now ?
anyone know the answers to these questions ? also would assume there is a set of poppers out there with a bigger compression than the ones that are NOT doing enough.
need to hunt this down as it wont take much for this mod to work and it is annoying  :sad1:

RVC should cause an issue

I had boot pop and camera and it worked fine

The process is

Vcds to enable slight pop > bumpers push tailgate slightly > increased pressure and change of angle from the strutts and ball pins

most likely issue is with the bumpers are they springing back out when pushed in

Good to know that the RVC shouldn't be the cause

I think my issue is with the struts. Used to be it was very hard to close the lid, now find it fairly easy to be honest.

Was going to buy new struts anyway, so think i'll try the Exeo st struts  :happy2:

i dont know if it is the struts or the poppers,
my boot is certainly heavy to close with the new struts on but it isnt to bad,
the poppers are certainly doing their job with regards to compression but the combination of these parts is not enough,
even on a level surface i cant get the boot to fully open, as mentioned earlier when i installed the poppers i had a problem with the allen key turning forever, both anti clockwise and clockwise, did any of you guys have this issue as according to the video install i watched the turning should come to a stop - so i dont know if i have the full compression setting, it looks maxed out but who knows.
I think i need bigger poppers or should i say ones with more compression,
i suppose it could be the struts but i cant tell,
very frustrating this and any info from members much appreciated

Did you grease the ball joints before putting on the new struts. I have been recommended to do this, as I didn't when I fitted mine, as it makes a difference.
