May well just be the style / look of it on screen. There are 4 different looks in total which change the colour of the screen etc

It means it powers 8 speakers, ie most GTIs.

This eBay seller has units removed from very new cars (fleet maybe) and accepted £200 when I bought mine 2weeks ago. Comes packed from SW London SATNAV Systems, who I suspect are flogging these off after removing them on mass.

What happens with my golfs 10 speakers (6 front doors,4 back doors), just 2 don't get any signal?
What DAB aerial did you buy?

What DAB aerial did you buy?

Not sure about the 10 speakers. Anyone else know? Mine sounds much better than the RCD300 ever did.

Not installed the aerial yet, but I bought a DAB, GPS, AM, FM aerial below. I don't have GPS but for the sake of about £3 more on the aerial and a £12 female fakra to fakra cable for the GPS, I wanted to add this wire as I will be removing the same trim panels to add the DAB wiring.

ah thats great to here as iam thinking of upgrading from the rcd300, just as you have.

some guys on here have said this is ok, so probably will try this first as i don't fancy messing about with the headlining.

I have one if those currently in its packaging in my glove box connected up to my RCD510. It actually gets ok reception in inner London but outside London it's very patchy.To be expected as its not installed! I will sell the aerial as it came with my radio as I want the best reception and a roof mounted GPS too. Horse for courses and you are right this is the easiest to install.

 :ashamed: ignore me on the premium 8 name, I think I'm wrong. Anyone know why it's called a premium 8?

Anyway RCD510 sounds good and the ability to have 32GB on an SD card that costs £15 is the key benefit.  If you wanted another 32GB you could have multiple cards as they take seconds to swap eg your partners music on another card. Think I'll do this so I don't have to hear Mrs MrDo's music :wink:

Had a close look at my speakers, and the 2 front mid ones are empty behind the door cards, you can see straight through to the door skin...penny pinching or what...almost verging on the dishonest, put the holes in to look like a speaker is there  :rolleye:

What sd card does it take ? Is the 32gb one a sdhc card as I thought it only took 2gb max in sd card form ?

yeah people are saying a 32Gb SDHC card will work ok, or 2Gb  SD card, not tried either myself.

As long as the firmware is from the past 2 years or so it will take SDHC cards :happy2:

Requirements for the memory card
The memory card slot accepts memory cards
with a size of32 mm x 24 mm x 2.1 mm or
1.4 mm.
The unit can read SO memory cards ("Secure
Digital Memory Cards") and MMC memory
cards ("Multimedia Cards") with a capacity of up
t02GB.
Other memory cards that fit the slot physically,
such as SOHC cards ("Secure Digital High-Capacity
Memory Cards")' cannol be read . ...

I'm not 100% how old my rcd510 is ...I bought it as a 2012 model ..and according to a book I picked up on rcd510 premium 8 it says 2gb sd card or 32 gb sdhc ...think ive got that right ..mine doesn't have dab ...
