i only removed my gti badge because i dont think it looked right with my black vw badge. I did do it in black bit i looked crap so took it off. After seeing yours though robin i think min e may make a return

....I didn't order the reversing sensors on my car originally and so they were fitted aftermarket by my VW dealer and were considerably cheaper in black. As you can tell by my 'temporary' (now over 2 years!) tail lights mix, I'm not too fussed about such things. In fact, with my ceramic black quad exhaust tips and carbon VW badge it all seems to sit together okay to me.

 exactly the same as the previous one, slightly curved, same size and very VERY shlny. IIRC it's the same P/N for the Mk5 and Mk6 GTI badge, 1K0 853 675 N 739.



That's what I've got then. They put new letters on when I had just my boot rust fixed and I thought they looked a bit different.

Yeah never liked them either. Never needed them to be honest.

....Which in my opinion regarding my own car is a good reason to be upfront about them and visually express them by having them black.



However they look better than a dented rear for those lacking spatial awareness.


....In the real world there are so many instances and circumstances when having alert beeps can save potential damage from such obstructions as high pavement edges and bollards etc which are below rearwards eye-level. They are particularly helpful in protecting a lowered car.

I didn't tick the option when I ordered my GTI from Wolfsburg but soon found that they were going to be useful. But fortunately for those with spatial awareness superpowers they were an optional choice.

I always prefer to reverse into any parking spot.  :happy2:

That's an interesting point. Usually when parking against a kerb I drive until I feel the tyres nudge the kerb so that the nose or rear overhangs the pavement. My car isn't lowered, but I do wonder if it was would I be unable to park in the manner I'm accustomed to. Is this what you lowered folk have to deal with? ....Indeed it is what we have to deal with and IMO worth the compromise for what a great handling setup (more than just lowering a car) brings to the joy of driving. I don't go into multi storey car parks with ramps either.

In my case I need to protect a real carbonfibre exhaust trim around custom black ceramic quad tips < It costs a lot of money to look this cheap!

Btw, at the risk of sounding pedantic, I don't think it's technically legal to park so that any part of your vehicle overhangs, and therefore can be termed as obstructs, a pedestrian pavement. I'm not trying to get at you but personally I don't think it's a good practice. [I've probably been spending too much time recently chatting to high flying lawyers!]

I always de badge my cars, Makes the rear end look cleaner.

Only badge I leave on is the centre badge, Not easy to remove on the golf with it been a boot handle.
How hard can it be?
