New Noise

Hi everyone first time poster

My 2006 DSG GTI has just developed a strange knocking rattling sound coming from the engine
It doesn't seem to happen at rest or when accelerating but is noticeable when cruising with foot off the accelerator or when braking

The sound is loud enough to feel on the foot rest in by the pedals

The car has nearly 50k on it but has had 40k service and Campbeltown changed

Any ideas?

I could try and get a video but as I've described I'd need to be driving to hear it

Ok so the problem has got a fair bit worse over the last few days so I'm going to try and take it in to be serviced work permitting but if anyone has any ideas it would be really helpful.

So vibration and sound is heard when the car isn't actively accelerating, so when I take my foot off the accelerator it gets louder but apply some gas and it goes away. Its also there when braking but not present when idle.

The vibration is rythmical and seems faster when at faster speeds.

Could it be the alternator? I don't know much about engines sadly
