Feckin Truckers !!
« on: July 16, 2009, 07:59:31 pm »
Not the best of journeys home. Hit a lorry strap in the road and the buckle slashed my tyre  :fighting:
Only had the Eagle F1's fitted since Feb and now I need another. I'd like to meet the stupid trucker who left it loose on his flatbed.

I also had a taste of what its like to have to drive at 50mph on a clear road for over 11 miles.
If the government introduce their draconian measure of a 50 NSL then I'll give up and get a bike.  :fighting:

Gutted for you.

You do see a lot of lorry debris on the roads, bit of old tyres, straps, and loads of reflective vests.

hope the replacement does not cost too much

Im getting my front tyres changed on Monday, since one of them is low on tread. The other one has a good 5-6mm on it. Im gettin gboth changed together so I dont have one lower on tread then the other, as I have now.

I believe its a Dunlop Sportmaxx though.
If you want it cheap gimme a shout

Not good Mick, I hit a 4" x 4" 6ft long piece of wood which had obviously fallen off the back of a lorry, fortunately it didnt do any damage! I wasnt very happy! :angry015:

I've had a strap and buckle flick up off the car in front and go straight through the windscreen of my 2 day old car, wasn't best pleased, also hit a lump of wood on a roundabout 6 months ago which buckled 1 of my rims  just call me lucky

Thanks m8 but I’ll pass, I’d rather keep em both Goodyear’s. Nice offer though,  :drinking:

I know that feeling too, I hit a huge log at about 55mph in the pouring rain once.
Completely destroyed a Prodrive Alloy, Sump Guard and trashed my suspension geometry on my Scooby
The sound at the time of impact had me convinced I'd wrecked the entire front end. I hardly dare get out to look.  :scared:

Oooh bugger.. there’s so many hazards out there these days, often unseen till its too late.  :scared:

....

That's a bummer, Mick! But at least no-one was hurt.

I won't hijack this thread but will post separately later, but I witnessed a truck taking out a biker (nice R6) last Friday morning. I stopped of course.

Just for future inofo you should not fit a space saver on a front wheel drive car,put the space saver on the rear &  & fit  the rear wheel to the front which was punchered. :happy2:

Thats as maybe, but when its pi55ing with rain and I want to get home, I aint changing two wheels.  :rolleye:

Whats the reasoning behind that anyway  Sounds like some rediculous Health & Safety, nannyspeak.
I did stick to 50mph (80k) like my life depended on it. Its not like I was likely to need ABS or TC for that matter at those speeds and as far as I can tell, they're the only things that could be effected by it.

It was in a handbook i had in my last car.Something to do with the tyre width & putting power down & braking etc. :happy2:
