Cruise control retrofitting. Is my control module compatible?
« on: February 17, 2013, 04:08:25 pm »
Looking into getting cruise control retrofitted to my golf. Been looking but can't find any definite answers.

On my car I have the control module with part number 1KO 953 549 BC. Was wandering if this was compatible and if it was a straight forward fit, Or would I need to change it?
How hard can it be?

Hi mate,

Not sure if you got it sorted but looks like you got a midline control module which is compatible for cruise control.

Would be good to upgrade to a highline if you wanted to upgrade the steering wheel to a fully MFSW  :happy2:

Here's a link to see the specs of your module:

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Steering_Wheel_Control_Module_Versions

Hope this helps matey

You can quote me on this (my tally is nearly 50 now)

BC controller does work with cruise, providing the HW SW is NOT 638

035, 036 and 636 are ok

The above is also applicable to other part numbers

The Ross-Tech info is also wrong when it comes to BS and CB modules

CB is a Highend
BS & CB do not support the G85 behind the slip ring

I took a pic of the sticker on the control module. I'll upload it now. All these numbers are confusing me!

Variants:

Lowline: No additional Options/Features
Midline: Cruise Control, Board Computer
Highline: Cruise Control, Board Computer, Multi-Function Steering Wheel

1K0-953-549-BC    Type 2    SW 0070    Midline    Yes    -    #1

As above your module falls under midline which does support cruise control,
Shouldn't have any problems mate

Sounds good to me, Thanks for clearing up the confusion!

A local specialist charges £150 to supply and fit this, Does  this seem a good price?

Think this is something i'd rather someone else do, As I don't fancy messing about taking the steering wheel off. Done it before with a previous car and it was a pain to get the steering wheel straight again after it!

I Charge £90 for supply and fitting the stalk

If the wire is required that adds £20
