4-Wheel Laser alignment settings - Help, Tyres destroyed in 5k
« on: February 17, 2013, 06:15:01 pm »
Hoping someone can help with some information. Have the girlfriends mk2 Leon FR, booked in for Service and MOT, next week, so thought i'd give it the once over, tyres, bulbs etc..

To my horror 3 of the tyres are worn down to the carcass on the inner edge, the outer measures 6mm. The alignment was only done in may last year at 40,245 miles, its now on 45,047 and basically destroyed its tyres.

It is apparent to me that the alignment is well out, even the rears are the same. It was main Seat Dealer, JCT600 that did the alignment, anyone think they should re-do it for free and contribute towards cost of tyres, below is the final settings given after alignment, which means nothing to me. can anyone advise what they should be on a 2007 Leon FR 2.0T.

That is shocking!

I would give JCT600 a call in the morning as well as Seat customer service but expect a fight from them.  :fighting:

That's the after?? WT actual F??

Far too much rear camber and the toe-in is completely on the piss. It's basically trying to crush itself.
Sideways yo!

Cheers for replying Mike, I've no knowledge of what setings are good, trying to read up on it. It seems the leon has a known issue with the rear end wearing tyres unevenly according to the seat forum.

Mike, its after, they didnt provide a before print out. Any suggestions?

Cheers Rich, but its for the girlfriends Leon, so i presume it will be different to the mk5.

Its more annoying and im disappointed in myself that i have not noted it sooner, as i want her to be safe when driving.

USA rear camber settings are loads different to UK settings.

Good job we have done one since Rich to UK settings.

It's good that your doing the checking :happy2: but the driver of the vehicle needs to be doing this as well before it causes something worse... :scared:

Rich's after settings look ok to me, although I'd personally run the rear with no toe and less camber - say half that. Which is probably what Alex is alluding to with the UK settings.

That should see it nice and square, a little less understeery, and tyres lasting a very long time  :happy2:

Mike, i think alex gave me slightly more rear camber actually, 1º40' (same toe settings). Next time i get Alex to do alignement (sping time) ill get him to set it up with parallel rear toe and see what happens.  :driver:

You'll love it, Rich. It'll be like driving a French car, without the fear the doors are going to pop off like a clown car at any minute.
