Ive ran stretched tyres for years and Ive not had a big problem, only problems ive had is always at tyre fitters that cant bead blast the bead of the tyre on to the barrel.

I've ran some daft stretch's and been trouble free, yet on my E60 BMW which has run flats from factory has cracked a wheel in 3 places, and thats using the correct tyre tyres size supplied by BMW.

Only thing Id say to be thoughtfull of is, that with running skinny tyre's/ stretched tyres is that you bringin the outer edges closes to the road so try and avoid driving like a loony, and I definatly dont reccomend driving it on a track on stretched tyres.

^^^What's the point in buying a 'sporty hot hatch' and not being able to hoon around in it occasionally because of your 'cool' tyres.  :stupid:

I would be interested to hear what the actual tyre manufacturers think on this.

Surely they design a tyre to be used in a specific manner, on correctly sized rims, which they recommend for the specific tyre widths.

Ironically, the tyres to rim size have been OK'd by VW!! They just are on the max of what they recommend!

Guys: This link will take you to an ULTIMATE pdf about the legalities of stretch/poke. VERY simply you have upto 30mm of poke, but the tread has to be in the arch.
MY golf was used as their example and i'm naturally running stretch!!

I know of a lad who was running stretch, the tyre popped off mid corner and he hit an oncoming car. Insurance refused payout on his car and the Police slapped 6 points and a fine on him.

For the sake of 'just in case' - I think they should be kept in the showground.
Sideways yo!

What TopCat I think is trying to say is.......he doesn't like your wheel stretch combo and that it potentially isn't a good make up!

So! because you think it looks good, you have convinced yourself it is the right thing to do.  :stupid: are you really that ignorant of your own safety and willing to risk the safety of other road users because you like how something looks.
Just because your not dead yet, doesn't mean your not going to die.
It doesn't matter what i say as it will obviously be a falling on deaf ears. Anyone who goes through and actually puts a 215 width tyre on a 9.5j wheel is well past taking in any advice.  :happy2:

Good luck.
