Should I sell my Gti?
« on: February 18, 2013, 09:01:16 pm »
I've a 2006 shadow blue Gti, perfect, nothing wrong with it at all in great condition and looked after.
It's got 73k on the clock and I do 15 - 20k a year ish. My thinking is do I sell it now while its under 80k or run it for another year by which time it'll have say 88k plus and try and sell it then?
My worry is that once it goes above 80k it'll only appeal to some people and the value will dramatically reduce or am I wrong in thinking that and ill only loose a little due to the mileage?

Any thought, opinions, experiences appreciated

TIA,

Mat

You need to tell us what you are thinking of buying in its place.

Fair point I guess :o)
Ive had mk4 r's before now which I like, put off the mk5 r32 a little because of the higher tax band for all but the older ones and that when it comes to sell it there is a limited market nowadays due to fuel costs.
Did think about a lower mileage mk5 Gti again as they're nice cars, also thought of just sodding it and getting a mk4 Gti and bombing around in that and sticking the miles on it but I think I'd regret it and want a proper Gti again.
I guess although its inevitable to a degree I'm trying to have a nice car without loosing out on stacks due to depreciation, I guess that's just cars for ya :o)

Thanks mark, it does need a clean tho, I've never heard my car being driven, will have to get someone to drive past me :o)
Moz I'm surprised as yours is very similar to mine and a very fair price. Mine is one plate newer and has as new 18" monza II's but otherwise the same car. Good luck with your sale. I'll have to have a ponder I think :)
