Wing Mirror Covers/Protectors

Guys,

My drive way is a mega rat race with the side of the house one side and 7ft fencing the other. The GTi just fits with enough room to get out without needing to survive on Ryvitas.
I unfortunately drove it up at the wrong angle on Tues evening and managed to scrape the wing mirror a treat. I'm getting it looked at by a specialist tomorrow scratch wise though.

To keep them protected in the long run, is there something I can place on the danger areas or a full on plastic black casing?
I know the chrome ones are widely available but they're rather bling pow pow and would probably be pinched at some point. For £30, I've considered it though.

I've even toyed with the idea of getting some wing mirror covers from a black GTi (Pearl Black perhaps). Do they just simply slide off? Not checked Haynes yet but if someone can summarise in a sentence, that'd be great :)

i cant answer your mirror cover bit, however one trick to prevent mashing your mirrors on walls is to buy some bamboo mat and face the hazard area on the wall with it, if the mirror hits it, the bamboo is more giving than brick and your mirror will survive any rashing

love the carbon fibre ones but sod the price of them
 and untill everyones feeedback is better about the wrapping not shrinking i,ll hold off on having them wrapped which i do want to do!!

^^^ There is no issue wrapping the mirrors if there are done in one piece

same as steve says, as long as the person wrapping does it correctly and uses the correct type of vinyl with heat (about 170 degrees on average) then you shouldnt see shrinkage
