Are my seats heated? Not as obvious a question as it seems!
« on: February 21, 2013, 07:31:04 am »
My car left the factory with fabric seats.  At some point someone has swapped the seats for leather seats.  There are no heated seat controls in the car as it didn't have them when it was built.

Is there an easy way I can tell if my substituted seats have the heating elements in them?  If so I could consider changing the dash controls and getting them wired up.

Thanks

Yes look on each seat loom for a plug like this

The control box for heated seats looks like this and you will have one on passenger seat, or one on each front seat depending on age - you'd need to know this when it comes to ordering a loom

Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Thanks, I'll go have a look!

I'm assuming in my case if the seats did have heating elements the plug wouldn't be connected to anything as per the first photo?

I feel like that's an obvious question?!!?

All UK spec cars have heated leather seats, mines not UK spec and the leather seats were fitted after the car was made so I don't know where the seats came from and whether they have heating elements in.

I'm about to go looking under the seats to find out!

We have a SEAT Altea with non heated leathers, but that could mean nothing when it comes to VW.

Upload some pics.

That airbag plug is under a plastic hatch which you have to remove

Sorry, it's always been dark when I get home.  I'll go have another look with the torch and see what I can find.
