slow coolant leak but not flange..
« on: March 28, 2013, 01:11:42 pm »
I have a very slow coolant leak which shows on the gearbox directly below where a induction kit pipe would go (between the engine and the battery)

Iv checked the flange after vw recommended getting it up to temperature and then with the engine running inspect the flange and there's no coolant coming out slow or otherwise.

I got underneath the car and looking up at the singing you can see some coolant on the bottom rear side of the engine close to the lower engine mount.

To make me more worried I have that dreaded white crap in my oil cap but I think that's more to do with the cold weather as there's no oil in the coolant and I had the leak before this.

Does anyone know how to perform a head gasket test from home just so I can rule that one out?

I can take and upload some pictures if that helps

Thanks y'all
