TDI REMAP
« on: February 21, 2013, 10:55:26 am »
Well I now have got to the stage where the standard car has not got the power and I am getting bored :sad1: Want to get a remap but have no clue of where to start.
I have spoken to TDI NORTH and they said NO and I am not sure where I can go that are known as the "best" for TDI's, I live in the Cheshire area but I am willing to drive to get the best of the best!! Please help me??

Thanks
Jim

I am assuming you have a VW TDi, so you should go to R Tech in Leicestershire... :driver:

If you're in cheshire then i'd recommend Awesome Gti

Their generic map is £150.00 and will see you circa 185bhp & 300lbs of torque.  And i just think for the money that would be hard to beat.  You can get more aggressives maps but i think this is a decent level and is not going to kill the clutch

Just had mine done at the weekend - first impressions are good!!! The car just feels more eager and pulls alot smoother.  I'd give you more of a review but due to work i've only managed to use the car on the 60 mile trip back from Awesome!

 :happy2:

Money is not an object TBH and I would like a custom map as I will be adding aftermarket parts to the car and so I can have the map adjusted to get the improvement from the parts

From what I have read, if it's a custom map you're after, R-Tech are your guys.

TDI North is a Honda specialist - Civic Type R's etc

I too live in Cheshire and took my GTI to R-Tech. By far one of the best VW tuners around. Nick will do you a map tailored exactly to your car (non of this upload an out-of-the-box one size fits all).

All for a decent price too  :happy2:

Full health check first to make sure all is well and free aftersales advice & help too. Never heard a bad word against them.

Awesome GTI maps are cheap-as-chips and are probably written by some keyboard wizzard in china that has never even seen a MK5 Golf. They dont do any health check, just plug in and go, they also cant alter the map to suit particular charateristics of your car.

You pays ya money, you takes your choice. . .

R-Tech all the way for me - you will see what I mean if you go  :notworthy:

I agree that you get what you pay for - i.e if you want a custom remap, its going to cost more. And R-tech have a fanatic reputation.  The more mods you have, the more it would make sense to have a custom map.

But I disagree with the "probably written by a keyboard wizard" comment!!! Have you actually driven a car mapped by Awesome?! Revo, Bluefin, Jabba sport, Shark performance etc all do generic maps - which I've experienced  3 of those in friends cars and they appear identical. And for the record Awesome do health check the car  & road test it after.

I do agree as a mate of mine has had his S3 done with a generic map!!

But it is not for me I wish to have a custom one.

Thanks

There are some very good mappers out there.
Our Awesome remap is not a bought file from China.
I has been written and doveloped here at Awesome
and has been tested on our rolling road.

I hope that helps
