Creaky handbrake

As you might have guessed, I have an annoying creaky squeaky handbrake. It's not all the time, but at certain speeds and and bumpy roads. Not sure if its the mechanism or plastic casing, but gently holding the handbrake upwards seems to help. Is there any easy way to access the underneath parts so I can try and lubricate with WD-40 or something. Cheers.

First just remove the handbrake skin/casing by using a flat blade ( terminal size) screw drive.

You do this by genteelly levering on the slot under the handbrake lever in the car at the sametime pulling forward on the casing toward the dash.

This will leave the handbrake naked and allow access to locally lubricate.

Pointless striping out further if his cures your problem!

Test drive and report back.

Thanks for that    I have just tried this and it all looks well greased up. I think its the plastics rubbing at the bottom making a noise. Cleaned and wiped over with a bit of WD-40 and hopefully that will sort it.
