While driving along there is a soft, barely audible and rhythmic 'thud thud' noise. It's a deep noise so it's hard to tell where exactly it is originating. I've come to the conclusion that due to the frequency of the noise that it is something to do with the wheels.
At high speed I can't hear it because the engine noise is too loud, but if I strain it is still there but at an increased pace.
Am I correct in thinking that it is the wheels, and if so, what in that area could be causing that issue?
On another note, the engine makes a loud ticking noise. What is that?
