Headlight washer system - not working!

(1/2) > >>

chungster:
bit annoyed with this, as its just out of warranty!!

have had an inde look at it...no blown fuse, no errors in ECU....

system works via water pressure from a pump which is on the washer reservoir i believe.

so is it likely that the pump has failed and just needs replacing? anyone else had this problem?

Replacement pump is only £50 all in (needs another part) so i could in theory take the front bumper off myself and replace it.

Parts guy did say it could be leak in the system so not enough pressure is getting to the jets to force them out and spray.

But rather than wasting more dosh on diagnosing actual prob and then being told it is the pump (thus extra charge for fitting it) i'm thinking i might just buy the part and replace it myself.

Any words of advice before I go down this road?

so what exactly is the problem fella?

you have no water pressure at the jet? or the actual pump isn't working?

the one for front windscreen/rear screen works fine.

the headlight ones (both side) don't fire anymore....like it used to like after every 5 blasts on the windscreen.

can't find many references on the web to people seeing the pump fail. wierd.

the inde garage didn't go any further to checking if it is the pump....as it would have meant more labour hours and front bumper off (i needed to go to airport) so left it.

VC:
the the units come out but dont squirt?

its worth checking all of the little couplings that lead to the jet as they can clog up depending on the type of screenwash you use

has your fluid got really low or run out completely recently?

nope they don't pop out at all, as they r forced out by water pressure from the pump. so thats why i think the pump needs replacing.

it did run low...but i topped it up straight away. it stopped working before the warning came up anyway...just not bothered to get it looked out till my oil service!
