Stage 1 Mk5 GTI, comparable BMW ?
« on: February 26, 2013, 12:02:29 pm »
I'm thinking of an R-Tech stage 1 remap, together with a milltek resonated exhaust.

What BMW would it be comparable to in terms of performance? A 335D?

Thanks

A remapped K03 GTI wouldnt compare to a 335d. I think that even a stage 1 K04 GTI would struggle to see off a 335d and its huge amounts of torque.

I thought the 0-60 for a mk5 stage 1 would be around 6 secs (240+ bhp), which is roughly what an 335d does.

Basing on the fact an ED30 is 6.6 secs and has 226 bhp

A 335d is quicker. End of. Especially once rolling. A remapped gti Is Comparable to a 330i I would say :)

FWD 225 tyres getting power down is different to RWD 255 tyres getting power down, plus the BMW has around 390lb/ft std, no chance aginst one

My 330D LCI does 0-60 in 6.2 std and has about 370lb/ft torque

335d' remap 9Stage 1) to around 340bhp

Standard 335d is stage 1 Edition 30 pace.

Stage 1 GTI would be similar to a standard 330d lci (245 PS).

Doubtful on a 1/4 (if that's the frame of reference). With my stg-1 K03 I consistently beat my friend's quite heavily modified (ATB diff is probably all that matters for a 1/4) 130i on numerous 1/4 runs last year at Santa Pod. According to the timing sheet I was managing a fairly consistent 14 seconds dead 1/4 and the 130i was high 14s.

For the guys saying ''what does it matter''....bore off

For what it's worth, my bog standard gti was all over a 07 330d in the twistys, when it opened up i was still on his tail at 80/90 then he left me like i was stood still. Those cars are properly quick above the ton mark

I'd say a stage 1 gti circa 250bhp would be around the same as a 335d upto 80/90ish...after that no chance

The lighter weight of the GTI will allow it to pull away initially but the higher displacement of the 3.0l will reel in the GTI.

Here is a video, think its been posted before:

A stage 2 Edition 30 would win. A stage 1 Edition 30, I wouldnt like to put money on it. Thats my personal opinion. Anyone know anybody with a 335d

Let the race commence!!

Ok i have to say something as my friend had a 335d 57plate and although it had allot of torque its not as fast as you may think over a ko3 gti stage 1 remap.

I had a standard mk5 gti when he had his 335d and in the 80/90 mph mark yes its faster but after i had remaped my gti i think it would of been evan maybe after 130 the bmw will be a car or two ahead. But i never got the chance to compare as he sold the car just before i remaped my golf

I did get to witness him go against my friends 350z 280bhp (on a closed road) and it was evan all the way past 130 mph.  Im sure a  stage 1 ed30 is by far quicker
