Nice progress so far, good you've done the cam follower and yourself as well, what a lad. Get the coilies on and it'll be banging.  :congrats:

Kit is missing rear shocks so am saving up for those first, plus rear top mounts. Anything else you recommend changing when doing the coilovers?

I'd fit new drop links for the £35 or so it costs. To be honest I would just do the front mounts if they are old, I've not done the rear ever.

OEM droplinks? Or are shorter ones needed?

Sorry still in mk4 mode, getting used to this mk5 stuff tho  :happy2:

Standard ones are fine bud for APs height. . Only shorter ones I've found are from FK's kits and you can't buy them separately.

Got a new blue tint front screen fitted today as old one have a few big chips and lots of marks etc.

Clive at All Glass Winscreens fitted, top guy and great fitting skills, does all VW main dealer glass. If need any glass fitting give him a call on: 07885968551





Very pleased with the results, nothing beat fresh clean smear/crack free glass!

Also my silicon red fob cover arrived:



Nice match for the TR paintwork:

So started to refurb the Monzas.

Condition was ok, just the usual whiteworm and a few curb marks.

Jacked the car up and removed the wheels:





Gave them a quick wash:





Started off by rubbing them down with a power sander to get the worst off:











Picked up some new VW centre caps:



After sanding:



Then sanded by hand with 600, 400, 240. Paints I am using:



Started to mask the wheels up:



First coats of primer and filler primer:









How they stand at the moment:





Letting them drive for 24hrs, will then wet sand tonight and see if need anymore filler primer before top coat and then clear.

Will up date later.

Some great work on the car Simon.

Keep the updates coming please; I can't wait to see how the wheels turn out. Have you done a refurb before? I need one of my pescara's doing but never though of doing it myself- might give it a go now.

Cheers mate.

Refurbed a few of my wheels over the years. Never get as good results as professional powedercoating process, but only spent £20 on paints. Like with everything, preperation is the key. Morre time spent rubbing down and primer the better the outcome. In all spent a few evenings on these. Masking tyres up took a long time too.

Results, as wheels where off, freshened the calipers up with some hammerite gloss red paint:












And the wheels:

Removed the rear wiper and fitted the glass rear blank today.



Left it to soak in WD40 to help remove the arm:






Then removed the inner panel:






Then undid the 10mm nuts holding the wiper moter in:




Glass blank:




Held in place while silicon dried:




All done:




Inner trim panel was missing a clip, luckily had one in my parts department  :happy2::












Very pleased, much cleaner look. If anyone one wants the wiper arm and blade or the wiper motor PM me as both for sale.
