Heat shield arrive from USA this week, I went for a Matt Black one to tie in with rest of induction kit
Had a bit of spare time yesterday so made a start on trimming the engine cover as I want to run wit hit on. Found a useful guide on Vortex and took the plunge with the Dremiel and saw.
Smoothed all the cuts I made for a good finish
Very pleased with results, will get some better pics up once all fitted.
While cover was off, I stripped the centre section off and painted it Matt Black:
Once fitted the heatshield I'll pop the cover back on and get some better pics.

Fitted the heat shield last night. Easy with right tools. Took the two 10mm nuts of under the engine cover supports first. Then undid them with the 24mm spline. As the whole they come out is threaded no need to refit the 10mm.
Some pics:
Gave the car its weekly wash today, took some underbonnet shots too:
Black coolant and washer caps fitted:

Alright mate great build
Bit of a silly question where did you splice the gauge into? Fitted mine last week and spliced into the headlight but it's not powering up, read somewhere it might be better in the dimmer but thought I'd ask seeing as you got it
Cheers

Cheers guys.
Valle, found this info for you: Part# WHT000898A for the Ball Joint/Ball.
https://www.partswebsite.com/1stvwparts/?i=2&model=1956&make=157&year=2006§ion=113&catid=30146&subcatid=75327&partid=0&type=parts&image=9278660&imagecallout=10
Tommy, I spliced the wire (red) into the grey wire for the headlight and earthed the other wire (black).
