Clutch slip on stage 1 map
« on: July 19, 2009, 06:52:55 pm »
Well i was on the rollers yesterday at awsome gti.

I have a revo stage 1 map and the map shows i get a small amount of clutch slip at max boost, 4k ish.

Anyone else had any clutch problems?

Currently i have switched the map off and am going to get my revo settings turned down. Boost is at 8 at the minute.

Last thing i need is to pay for a new clutch, will i have done much damage to mine?

On the other hand i ran 259.9 bhp and over 300ft/lb torque.

It seams to be more heard of on the remapped ED30 than the GTI but with 300ft/lb of torque it's not suprising.

Turning down the Revo settings will help for now but an uprated clutch is something you should really start to consider as it will get worse over time.

If you have the Select Plus switch you can do this yourself, just plug it into your PC and you can adjust the presets sorted under A,B & C  :happy2:

mine started to slip just after REVO was added. And I was only running Boost 6.

I would get a uprated Sachs clutch fitted and enjoy the Revo map properly.

oh heck, thats £700 i dont have.

Is it much more for a fly wheel if needed?

Wonder why mine is doing this when other people are running much more on standard clutches?

I,ve recently had REVO ST2+ fitted to ED30 DSG.
My clutch slips when nailing it  on aggressive map setting.
Anyone know howmuch a DSG clutch is?

I don't think there are many options on the DSG clutch packs as yet in the UK.

When Hurdy had this on his a DSG service sorted it out.

Touch wood mine had been OK on Stage 2+ but I have just had my DSG box serviced.

flywheel is another £400 odd!!!

the clutch in the std GTI is not the same as the one in the ED30. You could go for one of those instead i suppose.

Little bit puzzled here steve..
Why would an oil service help with clutch slip?I assume this is all that,s done on DSG service?

Not sure of the reason why but it certainly help Hurdy

What mileage is yours at??

Also is there any difference with the DSG box from the GTI and the ED30??

The gearbox will be touching 60K.(so i imagine the friction plates will be worn).
As far as I know ED30 and stock GTI dsg boxes are the same.

I don't know why it cleared the slip up, but it did. I think VW also rest the DSG settings on the service too. :happy2:

I did ge ta little bit of slip when abusing it at the Pod, but I then had the GIAC remap done, which increases the oil pressure in the 'box and this has made it a whole different gearbox  GIAC claim that their map uprates the handling capacity of the box to 500nm and I can believe it as it is simply spot on now :notworthy:
Golf R gone.

Out of interest is that 260bhp achieved with only a Stage 1 Revo remap, or does your car have other modifications?
