Yes, I can't wait.
I have already fitted all the door cards and installed the back seats.
I have a the seat heater switch already, it's just the harness to order now.

Obviously I haven't seen the harnesses but I'm guessing that you just have to lengthen the cable on the drivers plug so that it goes to the passenger side where the module is? Then the passenger plug would have extra length on but goes to underneath the drivers seat. So if I did not shorten that side it would not matter you just have to hide the cable in the car.
You could do all this work when the harness is out of the car before you start obviously.

Correct, lengthen the short side of the loom to reach the passenger seat. I did this by shortening the drivers side and using that wire to lengthen the passenger side. You could leave it and hide it under the carpet though I guess.
I did this after I had removed seats, before fitting loom so I could measure the length I needed.

Also by the way, on your guide you have put the link to the wiring diagrams but you have the 2006 wiring diagram showing twice.

Under the installing the loom section, its on the up to 2006 and also the 2007 onwards and also this is replicated on the PDF.

Worth updating.

I tried to msg you the day after I sent the last msg but your inbox is full.

I decided to swap over the seat wiring instead of cutting the harness. I plugged it all in, swapped the connections on the back of the heater as I thought it would work that way (best guess).

It worked straight away no problem, I haven't coded anything. The correct seat comes on for the right side.
My seatbelt warning etc does not go off.

So all is good.

I am sorry for resurrecting this thread.

I have recently purchased 2005 GT 4-Motion and would like to retro fit a leather interior, which I understand automatically comes with heated seats and electric lumber control.   As a newbie to Mk5 ownership and to the forum I would really appreciate some help please.

I have read this thread carefully, however the difference for me is I already have heated seats and Climatronic (digital climate control)   but not electric lumber control. There are two little wheels on the dash that have 5 positions to control the temp erature of each seat.

I understand there was a change in the wiring up to 2006 / from 2007 onwards, and the best way to check what year the seats are is to see if the there is a control module under both or just the passenger seats, and that if there are control module under both seats they are from an up to 2006 vehicle.

My question is  - if I make sure I get seats from a 2006 car will they plug straight in?  Also will the electric lumber control power-up or will they need their own power supply?  If I get seats from a 2007 onwards car will they work and if not what modifications would need to be made to get the heated seats working and lumber control?

I would greatly appreciate any advice you have to offer.  Thank you!

Iv got a 2006 Kufatec loom and unused if you need one :)

Although electric lumbar wires can be added to your current loom and not have to get whole new loom.

I think you will need to add the wires to your existing loom or unpick the old loom and replace with a kufatec one. Either way, I think you'll need some wiring diagrams to figure out which wires / pins to add / remove. You may be able to figure it out from the info in my guide.

I was hoping that, because I already have heated seats with the temperature controls as part of the Climatronic, I could avoid going down the Kufatec wiring loom route if I purchased a 2006 leather interior for my 2005 car.  In otherwords I would just need to concentrate on getting a power and earth to the electric lumber adjustment.  However it looks little more complicated than that...

I will certainly use your guide if I decide to go ahead.  Thank you for a posting a great guide.

I think it will just be running a wire(s) to the fuse box and to the correct pin on the seat plug, just figuring out which.
I'll have a look and see if I can rejog my memory.

Its really easy if the wiring loom is labeled. The one i bought from kufatec were all grey! But you can tell which one is for the ground, live and cecm.  The rest just go to the heater panel

Did mine last year but had no stamps or instructions.

The instructions you can access on their website once you've paid.
They have a small stamp on each, such as BLRT (blue red) which then marries up with instructions.

It could and should be better marked up though.
