Damaged side wall tyre

I've just noticed 3 cuts on the side wall and a nasty kerb damaged wheel.  My wife has been driving the car but doesn't know anything about it... Anyway it's a new tyre :( I guess just replace it as its not worth the risk? Here a pick of one, which is the worst.  Sorry for the bad shot.  The wheels were in a need for a refurb anyway when I got the car last year.

Can't tell from the pic but if you can see the cords then it needs replacing

My missus drove into a kerb at about 200mph and did the same. :fighting:

I drove another 3000 miles with no problems before I changed the fronts when they were bald.

Should be fine. Had similar before and drove on it for years. A couple of tyre places told me it was fine. Tyre walls are designed to withstand a bit of abuse.

Looks ok to me too that's what the lump of rubber is there for. I'd change it but that's just my OCD  :laugh:

Just get a blade and cut the flaps off... they will be perfectly fine judging by that photo

If you're not going to replace it, I would suggest getting some good rubber glue and sticking it back in place.. Some MOT testers may fail you for chunks missing..

If an mot tester failed that I'd be reporting them! I'm a tester myself and you can't fail a tyre for a cut unless its over 25mm long and you have to be able to see cords! That cut looks very minor I wouldn't worry about it
