Seems i may have found the answer to my problem i have been having. Had a repeat of my 'S3' spring coming off the other night. Only this time it was midnight in the middle of nowhere and it was snowing.... This time the rogue clip got lodged properly and disabled my car
Anyhow it seems there are some specific differences between the S3 caliper and the R32/Cupra caliper and it is to do with the way in which the spring clip is retained. The S3 has the retaining method built into the caliper and the R32/Cupra uses the pad to keep the spring in place. I can confirm this by lookin at technical drawings of the pads for the S3 and R32. They are different. It seems i bought what i thought were S3 calipers (because they had 'S3' spring plates on) and so purchased pads for an S3. In actual fact i have R32 calipers, powder coated black!
Well in the end this has cost me a fair lump of dosh to finally get this sorted. Ill get a picture up of the damaged wheel which i think will be scrap
