What can you safely get from what would be regarded as stage2+ on a KO4?

.
That's more like a stage 1.5, taking into account the pre-cat delete and CAI

After the reviews and what enthusiasts are saying R-tech is the only place to go!! :driver:

I too had my first R-tech Custom Stage 1 in November. Nick was honest with me and told me that it was down on power to start with (pulled 192bhp in standard form) and with the map made 232.8 and 286.6lbft. Nick explain what he thought was the issue and spent way more time than he actually needed to to make my car run like Nick and i wanted it to.

Nick told me that the diverter valve was leaking (was a rev D) and that he suspected a cracked turbo.

Changed the diverter valve and it was amazing...

had the car in at Statller as i am based in sheffield to check the turbo and sure enough it was cracked and the cat was knackered.

changed the turbo and really did get the full force of the map nick had done. i need to take it back to r-tech to have a power run to see what its actually running.

To quote nick "night and Day" is bang on,  so happy with the car.

glad your enjoying your newly transformed car  :happy2:

as the kids say these days... im 'well jel' of your figures.

5th gear full load run calculated EGTs 918deg @6900rpm @ .81 lambda the egt model  will be wrong as the pre cat has been removed so actual egts at .81 will be closer to 850deg.   At 945deg calculated egt the fuel maps will change to a protection map to fuel at .78 .76 to aid wall wetting and ruduce combustion temps.

The TIV+ mapping allows for a better / fast ramp on the ingnition timing outputs which lower egts by upto 100-150deg is some cases.  Plus my method of rail pressure mapping from the high pressure pump allow for much better combustion, plus our cam timing setup..  There is no other stage 1 map out there that will be running TIV+ mapping links with all the extra we do.

This is writing maps for a passion, not to make a franchise and make profits selling all for one safe maps.

what MPG are you getting with your new map?

I have stage 1 R-Tech and pre cat delete and my mpg is still down in the low-mid 20s (last tank averaged 25.6mpg on my iphone mpg calculator and i was going carefully!)

Been back to R-Tech 2 or 3 times, changed many bits inc most recently the MAF and it still hasn't changed..

Love the power but even with my power im sure my MPG is lower than it should be still.

How much do you want?

400bhp 400lbft could be had if your running all your hardware to flow.  THS fmic with larger boost pipes inc discharge pipe,  highflow decat system,  decent intake / high flow induction kit, nology silver plugs, WMI ect..

If your using run of the mill bolt ons, forge twintercooler, twintake, stock discharge pipes, sports cat then expect 350-365bhp tops.

The more u do with the hardware the aid the flow the more power you will get, all our work is custom so we never really quote numbers as we map to the hardware limits

Mk5 tfsi mpg is hit and miss at all stages for some reason.  The mk4 1.8t will make about same mpg avg at all stages, stage 1 and stage 2 can see upto 33-37mpg on 99% of setups.
I would love to know why some tfsi are so poor on mpg, stock and http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=720421
Many factors driving style manual or DSG ect.  DSG cars tend to get lower mpg reading. There is a huge variation in mpg.   You car seems to be in tip top condition now.

Yeah. Just demoralising getting so little especially on runs where I'm being careful and sticking to 70.

After the first time you mapped it, it was great. 30+mpg on a run and 28ish even after a hoon. I think removing the pre car made a big difference in mpg as its after that ( and the subsequent visit to re tune) that its dipped.

Can't complain with the power or the service from r-tech though who has been brilliant.

It hard to see how and why mpg is lower, it's running lambda 1 for cruise and not trims anywhere during cruise.   Fuel enrichment by driver demend starts at 80% throttle and .98 2500 rpm .89 3500 rpm
And .84 4500rpm.     all I can think is added drag somewhere?    Another thing we can try is to refit pre cat? I have an exhaust here we can test.      Another thing could be is some of the pre cat sitting in the main cat and reducing flow??

I get around 31-35 avg on the motorway driving between 70 and 90 and around sheffields hill laden town and B roads which is where most of my driving occurs I get around 25-27 but if drive steady I can get 30 relatively easy.

Is yours DSG or manual? If manual how is your clutch getting on?
