Yes, been out in Woking as well, probably not one of Surreys finest examples

You can actually ask AMD in Essex to reserve you their complimentary customer smart car when u leave your car there!!  :happy2:

well you pays your money & takes your choice.
you could argue that vw don't make the parts anyway, they are probably gates belts in a nice vw box. The vw stuff has 2year guarentee independantly from AMD guarentee of workmanship. But if it snapped    :rolleye:  which one would own up ?
So i think it comes down to money & piece of mind. If moneys tight the AMD web price of £312 is incredible. But i'm not brave enough to try it, having had cambelt/garage nightmares before on my MK4.
Its the vw dealer for me from now on, especially as they will price match within 5miles  :drinking:

I personally would use VW as all previous maintenance work and servicing on my gti has been done by an approved VW dealer since day 1.  It is expensive and like most of you say daylight robbery but if all previous service and work has been done by an approved VW dealer wouldn't it be good to keep any future work regularly maintained by VW.

For me it was a huge factor to buy a car that had full VW service history.  I know some guys put on a premium when it comes to sell their cars if work has been done by VW.  It would make any future sale more sellable.  Once thing buying the car but another to maintain and run it - pain in the ass I know!!

i got my cam and water pump done from VW romford essex for £430 today.
for some reason car feels faster and smoother. i dont know why  :ashamed:

on the other note they must have taken the oil cap fitting or done something with it, cos now when the oil cap shuts the writing is left hand side.  i cant get it to line up straight looking at me when standing in front.

Just dropped into Alan Day VW City to get a quote for this, they said they have a special offer of £499, doesn't sound that special to me just wondered what the going rate was these days ?

I Just got quoted £419 from Volkswagon for the Belt and Pump.

From Volkswagon in Kircaldy or you can get the kit for £150 and get an independent garage to do it.

I just got quoted £450 from an indy specialist in west croydon, needless to say they will not be getting my business.
