Annoying rubbing noise...
« on: March 07, 2013, 09:02:39 pm »
Looking for suggestions folks...

When the car is moving I can hear a feint rubbing noise coming from outside the cabin, which seems to increase/decrease in line with my speed.  Best idea I've been able to come up with is potentially a knackered wheel bearing, but I've not had a chance to look under the car yet.  That is on the 'to do' list this weekend.

Any suggestions what else it might be?

if its rubbing/knocking it could be a CV boot which seems to be a pretty common problem

Common for stones to get trapped between the back plate and disc - jack each wheel up separately and check to see if you can locate the noise from there.
