Nightmare on F/W updating - HELP Required
« on: March 09, 2013, 02:24:31 pm »

So I have the following

RNS 510 C - currently running 2760 F/W and Maps Version 7551

I have downloaded the firmware files from RNSfirmware.com  and from the my-GTI, I have versions 3810a and have Euro 4120 firmware.

I have bought Verbatim Discs DVD-R, TDK CDRw and Traxdata CD-R, but none of then get pass the full install stage, the RNS510 see's the image, see pictures below.

So apart from hanging myself, or driving the car into a brick wall, what on earth can I do...................

Someone help me out........... Does anyone have a disc that they know will 100% work??

Looking forward to your help

There was no 1x or 2x option?

I'll report back later what brand I used, I had one failed attempt but then worked fine next attempt

I requested x1 speed, but reading the info as displayed it was writing at x4 speed

This may sound stupid but try burning the dvd on a different burner as some burner chipsets are more likely to burn a dvd that fully readable on your rns510 trhan others.

I would only use verbatim and nothing else.

Could be a corrupt download. Would try downloading again and as said above try a different burner.

If I recall you have to load 3810 to get the new partition layout, then 4120 thereafter.
I have 4020 on mine.

What format is your clock time? If 24 hr try changing it to 12 hr and then try the update again.

I've also had and been trying 3810a firmware update, and still same errors

What fw are you on at the moment?

If you're on something really low then it may be worth trying a lower fw first like a 2760. And then upgrade to 3810
