Desperate, bumper advice...
« on: March 10, 2013, 08:43:48 am »
Morning all!

I am getting pretty desperate waiting for a GTi bumper to come up in the for sale section... I know replica parts are generally a crap fit but has anyone found a OEM quality one? A insurance approved part maybe?

Thanks all :)

I take it your on about the standard textured black plastic bumper with the cut out for the exhaust?? If so they aren't that much money from the dealers

I picked up a brand spanking new bumper AND the full GTI grill for £100 off ebay, 2 weeks ago. There's plenty of sellers on there with similar priced items.

Ah, I ended up buying one off ebay with a very small crack so it was easy to hide.

Hi mate,

If it helps the part number for a 2005 GTI front bumper is 1K0807217RGRU, I don't think it's changed for later models. Main dealer VW are currently charging £347.39 for one. Comes primed ready to spray.

Is that just the Shell? Guessing you don't get any of the grills at that price?

Yep just the shell, you'll need to find someone to spray it. It also needs the fixing kit which is various screws, bolts etc and VW will charge you about £15 for that.

Regards the grilles, they are separate. I've put the part numbers and current prices believe in case you need it.

1K0853677B9B9 - £43 - front bottom grille
1K0853666P9B9 - £29 - right or left grille (where fog light sits)

Cheers,

Matt

On my last car I bought a brand new GTI/GT bumper for about £80 new on ebay, wrongly listed as a Jetta bumper.
Would be worthwhile learning the subtle differences between the mk5 and Jetta bumper, many people have the latter because of your predicament and love it.

I had an Xparts replica which was ok but eventually changed it for genuine.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

I was under the assumption GTi and Jetta bumpers were the same? Bar the chrome finishing and obviously the GTi grills, is this not the case?

A lot of people seem to be saying they have found new OEM parts on eBay, all I can find is heavily damaged jobbies :(

I can pick up the three lower grills easily enough it's the main centre piece with the red strip aka lipstick that I'm not so sure about, has anyone got a link to a replica part of this or vw product code?

Cheers

Fundamentally the GTI/GT/Jetta bumpers are the same, but this chrome eyebrow actually has an indent only found on the Jetta bumper.

One just come up on ebay, no mention of it being genuine or pattern

EDIT: It's a non genuine bumper.
