Ive gone the opposite way

MK2 Leon FR PD170 (Shark Stage2+ Mapping with lots of other mods) which made 228 on a few rollers

now MK2 Leon Cupra R Stage2+ , at first i missed the torque punch of the PD engine, sometimes i still do when cruising to work.

But then the APR Mapping kicks in and away i go  :driver:

As you know out cars go well but fuel prices are taking the grin off my face.
I'm doing approx 300 miles every week in mine and the same in hers.
My fuel bill is more expensive than my mortgage!

Since going Stage2+ ive noticed my tank is only alsting about 250 miles on the drive to work aswell

I would leave a little earlier so i can drive more steady, but when your doing 12 hours a day + travelling you dont really want to get up any earlier

It would depend on how you drive them. The work diesels we use very rarely get above 24mpg but that's because they are driven hard going to jobs. If you drive them economically by short shifting and staying in an high a gear as possible they do give good mpgs.  Diesels are good if you are doing more than 20,000 miles a year as the cost of the fuel is offset in the increase of mpgs plus lower tax. However modern day petrols are becoming very close in economy. I have a 2012 Focus 1.6T Ecoboost and I get around town 30-35mpg and on motorways up to just short of 60mpg on long runs. That is not bad for a petrol but then the engine is the most advanced one on the market to date, as it has both cams that adjust and not just the intake cam. Plus some more gadgets like active grille shutter to help make the car more aerodynamic etc and some other wizardy that I wont bore you with. I went from a 270bhpOcty VRS MkII to one of these and am loving getting nearly 600 miles per tank. Drive it hard and the mpgs do go down as expected but driven normally its a fantastic engine.

My 08 140ps gt tdi sport average of averages is 55mpg on trip computer, doing steady 45mile commutes on A roads at 60mph, about 700 miles to £81 diesel.
I thought the 140 would save me fuel money on 170, but in the vw figures the 170 is more economical...
My mk4 110ps was alot more economical averaging more like 65-70mpg, but not as much fun  :driver:

Well I've ended up buying a golf mk6 gtd 170 and picking it up on Friday.
Looks and drives very nice.

I originally went to diesel to save money so I could get an RS3 next year but fuel prices may put me off by then.

I currently do circa 500 miles a week and average 45MPG - 470 mile to a tank which.
2016 Mk7 Golf GTD - Reflex Silver with stuff.
