Did I read somewhere you need to grease the ball pins? I fitted the rocco bumpers and they pop the boot just fine so just need the struts now

I dont think your bump stops are working correctly as im sure you said they just spin and spin?
yeah when i fitted the stoppers they just kept turning with the allan key but they appear to be going in and out ok and i dont think they could work any better - saying that i will get a new set just in case, dont think its causing the problem though.
I to have nearly damaged my wifes mk4 boot lid when closing it as it is soooo light in comparison to mine, i will contact tfsimike and see if he can help out.
Im sure my mk6 handle camera unit isnt helping as it is fairly heavy, add the gti spoiler and i guess that is where my problems lie.
My boot is very heavy but would i accept it being even heavier to get the pop to work !!! i suppose i would,,, will contact him and report back.
Anyone else got this fited to a gti AND has the mk6 camera fitted ???

Ok guys, mike got back to me, to make it easy i will copy / paste his reply, here it is

Hey mate,

If I remember right the company is called struts direct.

They're dead helpful. You can spec the struts to the force you want.  Only thing is it can become hard to close the tailgate if you make the struts too stiff.

They make struts that you can release gas from to adjust the force.

An option (maybe a bit extreme) would be a lexan rear screen.  Plastics for performance do them. Would be a great weight saving which is ways a good thing but relatively expensive. £80-100 iirc

Hope that helps

Best,

Mike

So the company is called struts direct,,,, would i pay say £100 for a set of struts that where just right and also adjustable if necc ???? think i would if it meant getting this mod to work correctly - what about you guys ???
I will contact them tomorrow and post my findings here,,,

forgot to ask, does anyone know the force of the struts we have fitted just now, not the oem ones but the boot pop mod ones.
No doubt i will get asked this when i call the company, if i remember right it is 400nm, or ns or something like that  :ashamed:
will help if someone can confirm this

Also says 600N here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-X-BOOT-STRUTS-L-440-600-N-SKODA-FABIA-/370695168260?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BIEW%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D21%26pmod%3D290481025395%26ps%3D54&nma=true&si=j2NMNUWtId4kmrBdeAAZ%252BvrMDRE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Just checked the Golf ones and they are 535N so the Fabia ones are not really much of an increase.
Ahh that makes sense actually as to why this bl**dy mod has so many problems,
535 up to 600 is a tiny increase - this info really helps as i have the 2 figures now that i needed.
I will call the strut specialist company i found on-line that tfsi mike recomended tomorrow and see what they advise.
Thanks very much guys for the info and i will let you know what they say regarding solving this mods problems.
