DV changed.. OMG! But a little help needed.
« on: March 13, 2013, 11:44:36 am »
Just had my DV changed from an original B (pic below) to a revised G.. As you can see the B DV is split all the way round :/ as I pulled away from the garage it pulled like a train :) really couldn't of imagined the car being any more powerful :) after drivin for about 1 min I gave it some throttle and it dropped right of the boost :( then as if I had no turbo all the way home, then after turnin car off and back on I had boost again for a min then the same happened :/ any ideas? Thanks, Craig.

Yeah, it wasn't around the diaphragm it was around the plug.. Is this what could be causing it? If so why wasn't it doin this before I changed the DV? Thanks.

My DV had some oil around the plug when I changed it. How important is it that the PCV gets changed?

Quite important and it only £35 and 30 mins of your time. Easy way to check it start your engine, then remove your dipstick for 2-5 seconds, if the engine runs rough, your PCV is fine, if it barely changes, then PCV is nakerd.

OK, thanks. I'll get on that! I found the part number for it. Don't know if I should get the rubber seal too though.

06F 129 101 N = PCV @ £32.64

There isn't a gasket as such but the orange rubber seal that sits behind it is: -

06F 103 483 E = Seal @ £15.44

Just tried this and there was not change at all.. So if I get my PCV changed do you think this will resolve my problem? Any links to PCV kits would be appreciated, thanks.

then yeah its defo a good place to start. In regards to the PCV valve, its best to ring your dealer and find out which revision you need by giving them your reg number, i think most people get revision N.

If you replace that and the issue is still there, get some one in your are to run VCD's on it and highlight the area. But defo do PCV  first, often a main culprit

Sounds like possibly an overboost of the N75 (i think) valve. Its exactly what happened to me. You will have to check in vcds, mine came back with an error relating to 'boost pressure upper limit exceeded' or something like that. Either way, sounds like a limp mode was triggered.

Thanks for the info, if this is the case how was it resolved? Simply by deleting the error?

Basically mine was broken, no through general failure though! A 'well known independant VAG garage' broke it  :congrats:

Although it is difficult to find you should be able to see if it has pipes broken off etc..

Its sort of cambelt side quite low down. There was a pipe going to the turbo's actuator which was quite nearby. Worth a punt anyway!

Just ordered my PCV. £36ish inc. VAT. So not too bad. It was the part number that I listed for a GTi. Can't fit it this weekend as I have to drive to Bristol. Hope things will be OK.

Did you order from a main dealer? Was this the part number 06F 129 101 N? And was that all you ordered or did you have to order a gasket and hose? Sorry for all the questions :/ haha thanks, craig
