oil cap fitted wrong way
« on: March 12, 2013, 08:28:26 pm »
i had my cambelt and water pump changed today by VW.
the oil cap writing is now looking the wrong way when closed.  i cant get the writing to line up in front of me when standing in front of the car.  anyone know why.  did they turn the way it fits inside?

is it a easy fix to put right?  its no big deal but im a bit anal about it.

It can be fitted with the writing both ways. Just take it off turn it round about 180 degrees then refit....simples :happy2:

it either shuts this way or the opposite way.  but doesnt shut with the writing facing me.  has the positioning been changed inside how the cap fits..

Take the engine cover off.... they might have snapped the neck off and glued it back on wrongly

really!!!, if so im going back down there..  i have to check in morning.  would a VW garage really glue something back on.  i thought perhaps just they positioned it the wrong way.  does this get altered in anyway during a cambelt change?

hey, in regards to the oil wrong way, you can pop the top off from the sleeve section, then just turn 90 degrease and fit back on. 2 mins job. just push hard and it will pop off. :pomppomp:

Yeah pretty much, maybe just use a flathead screwdriver to ease it away  :happy2:

The cap is in 2 pieces, sometimes the top part with the decal on can come off and can be clipped on 90 degrees out, I have done it, clip it off and refit in correct position   :happy2:
