Components are under more stress, you shorten the life of those components. 

To be more specific, your clutch & flywheel will be under more stress which could lead to clutch slip.

Problems with Spark plugs and coils are often highlighted by tuning. RedRobin is on 105,000 miles and been tuned since around 20,000 miles.

Engine components take the power no problems  :happy2:

Driveshafts / CV joints / Turbo etc. etc.  you put more power through a system you are closer to its tolerance... you WILL shorten component life

Most people will have the extra power added but not really use it, due to speed limits and traffic

Let's not forget, increases will be created right over the rev range, most notably a lot more torque at low revs, 2.5 - 3.5k

It's an educated decision to make, I know more power and torque causes more stress on a system (stands to reason), but I'm willing to accept that.

We're in Manchester for you more northern people.

If the clutch slips with a stage 1 type map, it's on its way out.  yes, you can keep the torque down but where's the fun in that :)  These cars are well engineered and can lap up a stage 1 map, so I wouldn't be overly concerned about that :)

Compromise. Yes you can savage the clutch with 320lb/ft+ but can you put it down?, does it translate to making progress? In a country that's mostly wet; I'll happily dial it back, have some fun, save my clutch / tyres / components and still make similar progress.

Tbh I've not heard of any problems related to a remap such as driveshafts, cv's etc. the cars take the power very well  :happy2:

 Agreed that you will shorten component life, but as the car body will have rotten away well before the engine dies its not worth worrying about - providing you maintain your car correctly  :laugh:

Most folk will have rid of their car before its even done 100k miles - which as I said above,RR has done that mileage with no issues

In lower gears yes, but you can limit the torque there and then have more in the higher gears to make proper progress without having to rev the engine :)

New ~Turbo fitted and the odd other problem.   :happy2:

There is plenty of headroom in all of the associated parts, so as long as the map is a quality one then you shouldn't be worried. But your hardware might be already a bit tired and the heavier right foot that comes with the map may help find the end of certain parts lifespan.  :happy2:
