Hi Tom,

Chances are you have a MFD2 Satnav which does not play MP3's, you also need to remove the maps CD to play music cd's meaning you can not listen to music and use satnav at the same time. If you can't live without satellite navigation my advice would be to consider replacing the MFD2 with a RNS510.

The MFD2 will not natively play MP3 files, your cheapest option would be to buy something like a Parrot MKi9200 bluetooth adapter as you can stream music from your phone as well as play MP3 files from a SD memory stick.

See if I get an iPod cable added will I be able to change the songs on the nav unit or will have to use iPod to change. I also heard that track listing doesn't come up ? :s

You should have a 6 CD player under the arm rest. I am sure the MFD2 came standard with that so you can listen to CD's and navigate at the same time. If you don't have the CD player in the arm rest, you should have either iPod prep or a USB under the arm rest.

I can't be bothered with the hassle if changing the unit.
Mines doesn't come with an armrest, nor an USB port or iPod prep :( what would I need to do so I can at least listen to an iPod, change the songs on the nav and charge it. Is their a lead that will let me do that?

Thanks

If you do not already have a CD changer, something like this might do the trick http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IPOD-IPHONE-Specific-Aux-Audio-Adapter-for-VW-MFD2-RNS2-Dock-Connector-/350698459327?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item51a741d0bf

thanks mate! this lead does the job but desnt charge the ipod. Do you think i could get an lead that charges it too?
