In my opinion i would say that damage is cause by det/heat build up.If it had been run low on oil you would have bearing issues and you have none. Perhaps the runner on that cylinder is very short or cheap fuel or mapping  :scared: . Anyway good luck with the build.

the intake cleaning would only apply to a non direct inj engine not the 2.0 TFSI, but Ill stop there as its jonnyc thread :happy2:

So!! The block is back, re-bored to 83mm for the new pistons, and everything is perfect, luckily enough the 0.25mm on the bore wall was enough to remove any damage from the piston.. In fact, the machine shop said that a heavy hone would have been enough, I think if it was going to be running standard power then yeah.. But with the plans that I have for the car immediately and in the long term, I want to make sure that this engine will be able to take everything that I throw at it!!

The engine will be getting built up starting next week, and shouldn't take long to complete, I should have lots of pictures of the build up to post soon!

Then its just a case of waiting for the parts from the states to arrive..

Thought I would post up a few more images of the turbo kit that BSH have just released.. (part of my kit is on that table I believe)

Can't wait to see this stuff on the car! Looks like amazing work!!

Plan is to run the car in for a week or so gently, drop the oil and see how everything is looking then go down to Revo and see what it will make! Limit is going to be the stock in tank fueling system at the moment but there are lots of things in the pipe line to sort that out!

On straight 93 octane (98 euro equivalent) guys in the states have got to around 450WHP on the stock fueling system with RS4 injectors before its maxed out, so thats what Ill be aiming for as a first shot.. Thats around 525hp at the crank.. Even with that power its going to be a very quick car!

Whilst the block is out have you decided to go for the cryo treatment or not?

Not bothering mate, I think if it comes to that then really you would need to be aiming for huge power to ever see the benefits, but maybes not..

I guess maybes down the line ill build another engine for the car, having got lots of info from this one! Any maybes do it then..

Just something interesting to note too.. Was on the phone to Phil @ BSH earlier and we talked about how he was getting on with the kit on his demo car.. He said he has full spool by 3700rpm with a 3076R turbo (same as what im running) I really think thats pretty impressive considering the turbo.. With ceramic coatings and some other trick bits I think I can get that down a couple more hundred rpm which would give a really big power range!

Wow, this is sounding awesome, and good news about the block - I remember how fast and sticky my S3 wa with a mere 330BHP, nearly double that, with the right gearing is just gonna fly.

What is it going to be like to drive normally?

I think it will be pretty tame to be honest, the turbo wont be working at all below 3k so driving around town will be very quiet and smooth and motorway driving should also be cool as there will be no boost in 6th at 70mph..

Obviously im going off the last turbo that was on the car, to be honest, there wont be a huge difference in normal driving, just once you get on it then its going to be a different story!

Gearing is something I have been thinking about, but thats down the line to be honest.. The long term plan is to mate it up with a DSG 'box with uprated clutches, strengthened gears, LSD etc etc.. After im happy with the power the car is making, that will be the next way of un locking some extra pace.. But, ill have to wait for someone to come up with clutches, as at the moment the HPA solution is pretty expensive as there is nothing else on the market!

VAG car running 500bhp per tonne and a dual clutch gearbox.. Remind you of anything???
