Big respect Jonny, I enjoy following your build threads
Cheers mate..
Update..
Took a trip over to the garage today to see the car and its all looking good..
Screamer pipe tag is now bolted up, looks really nice and solid but should be very quick to remove if required..
Just another pic of the exhaust, There has been some adjustments made to the cat back section of the exhaust so that it sits nice and high in the tunnel, im planning on running the car pretty low so I don’t want to be having issues with ground clearance.. Also you can see a good portion of the exhaust has been wrapped.. It all helps!
Really happy with the fabrication work that ACR have done on this build!
Hers a nice pic of the turbo complete with the boost pipe bend, intake pipe and all of the lines and heat proofing fitted.. Big old thing!!
Then it was time to mock up the lower boost pipe. The pipe provided in the kit was nothing like what we needed, with the S3 having so little room in that area because of the 4WD system Andy has had to fabricate it from scratch basically..
There will be a support bracket made up for the lower pipe to support it from the stock location off the side of the sump and all of the pipes will be swaged and powdercoated before fitting..
Also the brakes, they need fitting.. Heres some nice pics of the kit..
It’s the same kit that I ran on my ED30, there fantastic brakes and way above the level of the competition, nothing else would have been up to the job in my eyes..
Its very important to me that every area is looked at. There is still a huge amount of things that I want to do to the car but this first spec that the car will be running is pretty comprehensive and will mean that its all within limits..
After looking again at the car, I have decided that the wheels are going to be treated to a new finish. Im going with a textured matt black powdercoat, should be a little different to the normal black wheel which is what im after as the white / black look is so played out now.. Oh well, it’ll do for now until I get the wheels that im really after..
The red was fun for one weekend on the Golf at GTI International but not the look that im after with the S3..
Heres an example of the finish that the wheels will have..
Not a highly textured finish like some, I was after something a lot more subtle..
So really there’s not much left to do now! The boost pipe will be done and on to stay tomorrow and then it’s a case of pluming in the N75, spanner checking the whole car then it should be ready for its first start!
Unfortunately im away over the weekend but come Monday im hoping that ill be able to get some first ‘running in’ impressions of the car!
