awesome pics  :happy2: and great to hear it running
out of interest what your 'method' of running in ?

Cheapo oil, 30 miles. New oil and filter, run in on no boost, 500 miles varied engine speeds, long runs no full throttle or big load requests. New oil and filter then thrash it!

Hehehe, and knowing how keen you are to get this all bedded in that will be 500 miles in one stint behind the wheel  :happy2:

Tomorrow night it should be done yeah haha..

Great pics Johnny

BTW how did you get into racing at 14yrs old?

Did you start in KARTING?

I would like to get my lad into Msport but where's best to start. I assume even Karting is a major expense. I assume you need some serious wedge behind you to get into the sport as I know from saloon cars.

I would like to get my lad into Msport but where's best to start. I assume even Karting is a major expense. I assume you need some serious wedge behind you to get into the sport as I know from saloon cars.

I started in a series called T-Cars, then went from there, raced Porsches and more recently Aston Martin GT cars.. No karting for me, certainly a good way to get started but I started very late, remember most start at 6 years old..

It does require some investment, but so long as you treat is at that then its good.. I have been fortunate enough to be driving professionally for the last 4 years now..

Anyways hope that helps..

Back to the S3..

So! The car is now home, been driving around today a little bit, got the first 5 miles or so on the motor then swapped out the coolant and oil, all seemed ok..

Done a further 50 miles now and it all seems great! The engine is very strong, you can feel it working from almost no revs and when you approach 3k it feels like it wants to leap out the front of the car!

The sound this thing makes is amazing, consider that I have only been upto 4k revs on about 15% throttle so really this is only a taster of how its going to be. Basically, it sounds f*cking amazing!

Got a load more miles to do now, going to drop the oil and coolant again tomorrow then we will start to dial some more boost into it and have a feel.. Should be enough to let me have a little play tomorrow anyways!

Some pics of the engine bay.. (note that this is no where near complete, lots of bits need powdercoating, and generally neatening up but you get the idea as to how it all looks..

Lower boost pipe now complete..

Almost done..

And with the fabricated DV recirc pipe and intake on (All of these bits will be crackle black powdercoat and nicely finished with heat reflecting material)

Next thing to do was to get the seats in and attack some of the first bits of weight saving!

Heres some pics of the progress throughout the day..

Rear battery box, no need for this and 3kg saved..

Each OEM front seat is 28kg / Recaro is 11kg so 34kg in total saved
Rear bench seats are 42kg
Battery box is 3kg

And a big pile of bits..

That is a very first touch on the weight saving but gives an idea how much there is to come out of these cars!

So! Im off to have a drive now, see how much I can get on tonight!

....Because it's in your blood, mate. You have lots of time away from the race cars and need to satisfy that part of you.

Btw, I'm loving that textured matt finish on the wheels - It's very 'metal' if you know what I'm trying to say - Funky.
But I bet I know which wheels you'd really like, I know I would! : -

Your S3 is sounding very racey from that clip.

Crazy, got another 200 miles on it and all seems perfect.. What really surprises me is how easy the car drives, there is loads of grunt low down (only on very light throttle at the min too obviously) which with the lower compression I really wasn't expecting, just shows how efficient the manifold and head work etc have made the engine work..

All of the sounds it makes are very cool, just sounds mega tuned.. Like a big turbo Evo, pretty raspy, not really a turbo exhaust note at all..

The dump opened up once and oh my god, that thing is SO loud, just insane..

The plan is to get some more on today then drop the oil and coolant once again and check the whole car over then new oil / filter and coolant and increase the boost and timing settings then go for another logging session.. Al being well I should be able to have a little play tonight..

Ill try..

Today we have dropped the oil again and turned the boost up to 1.5 bar.. I can honestly say that its pretty stupidly fast, turbo comes in very early but really pulls hard again at 5500.. Only revved it to 6750 upto now but seriously, its crazy fast!

3rd gear in the dry, lit the wheels up.. And I mean lit them up, its insane!!

Oh and to put the sound into perspective, with the windows down in 2nd gear, you can't go flat out, its just too much to handle!!!
