Strokers don't tend to like to rev as much as 2L but when running BIG turbo's like GT35's etc the benefits far out weigh the negatives. I'm suprised eurospec or someone doesn't do a stroker crank but i've not looked.

If you are after a stroker kit I think INA Engineering have something in the pipeline. EMAIL iabed@inaengineering.com
. Safe limit for re-bore is 83.5mm on these engines isn't? I'd be going for 83mm if I was boring.

gt3076 is the way forward on a 2.0t fsi engine, all the yanks rave about how good they are and that they are very drivable and not to laggy on these motors, with a decent mani it should help it spool up quite quick anyway, gonna be a monster when its all done!!!! if u ever get any probs with the mani cracking in the future due to heat, might be worth giving bill at badger5 a ring as he gets manifolds custom made by a guy who makes Formula one car manifolds, bill had had loads of problems with manifolds on his 600bhp ibiza so knows what he is on about...

Hey, update on the engine..

Going to a 83mm bore piston from the standard 82.5mm, 0.5 mm is more than enough to remove the marks in the bore which are very very light.. So pretty pleased with that, seems I was a little lucky!

The picture shows the damage to the bore, you can hardly feel this at all when you touch it, just seems to be metal transfer from the piston, the over bore pistons will be a sure fire way of getting the back to perfect!

You can see the damage to the piston here, no idea why this has come about, im having the injectors bench tested, but im guessing that its probably been ran on sh*tty fuel, with crap oil, and generally not been looked after.. Gutted but at least I know I dont need to shell out for a new block, that would have been a right kick in the balls!

Thanks to Nick I should have the parts required for the engine build early next week and shave a week off the build time as parts would have had to be ordered in from the states..

The engine should be built within a week, and by that time the turbo kit will be with me, fitting that with the motor out of the car will make it a lot easier for the inevitable adjustments and tweaks that a 2WD LHD Golf turbo kit will require to fit a 4WD RHD S3!

:surprised: an S3 over an R8....good choice  :happy2:
This has been a very interesting read. I've no idea what most of its about, to much tech talk for me, but can't wait to see the outcome too. Very impressive project that is already building you loads of respect points, well done.

Whens the beast likely to be ready for so we can all see it running? I guess at the Pod too??

Well it was more a case of, tuned ED30 and super tuned S3 or R8.. But yeah, thats what I went with. The amount of glares and general evil looks I got on the test drive of the R8 made my mind up for me really..

Anyways! The car should be getting close in a couple of weeks, engine should be built within a week, and turbo kit will take about that again to fit and adjust..

....Jealousy is not an attractive quality.

Why the feck should people care what others have got? No matter how well off you are, someone is better off (both materially and otherwise) and the same applies to being badly off. It seems to be a very English trait to knock down anyone who appears to be 'successful'.

Grrrrrrrrrr!! :fighting:
