Car damaged whilst in garage.
« on: March 19, 2013, 06:18:15 pm »
Hi all,

Unfortunately I was recently in an accident which involved getting the golf repaired.  They had the car for 4 weeks and I finally got it back today.

I picked it up had a quick look over the front of the car and door (where damage was) and took it to work.  Having finished work and walked out it became blatantly obvious the back of the car has been scraped, not once but twice  :fighting:  Both corners of the back bumper have been scraped by what looks like someone pulling into a car parking spot on two different occasions.

The garage is currently closed but I'm going to be straight on to the phone tomorrow as soon as they open.  I'm just looking for advice really before I i ring them tomorrow.

Where do I stand?  I haven't took any pictures of the car recently before the accident.  To be honest I should have looked thoroughly over the car before driving out of the garage but after 4 weeks of not having her i was genuinely like a kid at Xmas and couldn't wait to get driving.

Do the garage take pictures before the work to send the insurance company/ and to protect against things like this happening, or is it going to be a case of my word against theirs?

I'm so pissed off after the excitement of having my car back, only to find this out.

Will update with pictures as soon as I can.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take pictures now and get I there tomorrow. You are unlikely to pick up 2 scuffs in one day. Phone insurance company too and inform them the garage has damaged the car.

Thanks for the advice guys.  I've rang the insurance company and queried about photos.  Been confirmed photos will have been sent when the estimate was sent to them and signed off.  What pictures remains to be seen.

Insurance have confirmed they'll get the photos and ring the garage themselves as well as me.  Just hoping they've taken a picture of the back of the car as well
