EasyOut?
« on: May 08, 2013, 05:44:37 pm »
Anyone got any tips on buying/using an Easy Out kit?

I've had a nightmare with my Passat...managed to snap 2 cam cover bolts after breezing through the injector loom replacemt (I was hand tightening them before getting the torque wrench out!).

I'd like to avoid spending a fortune if possible, but any brands to aim for or avoid? Will it be OK to drill the pilot holes with a decent metal bit on a hand drill?

Thanks.

I'll be honest buy snapon and use colbolt drills. I would say use a decent drill and not really a hand drill as you are likely to run off and end up with an uneven hole with nothing for the easy out to purchase on... Also practice first as it can be an art???
